Zendalwood was created from a simple idea: when you travel far from home, you should still have a place that feels like home.

Located in the peaceful surroundings of Boudha, Kathmandu, Zendalwood offers spacious 3- and 4-bedroom apartments where comfort, warmth and the character of Nepal come together.

But for us, making a home is not only about how it looks.

It is about what we choose to bring into it, and where those things come from.

Made with Nepal in Mind

Whenever possible, we choose to use products made in Nepal.

The beds are dressed in high-quality pure cotton bedding, chosen because we believe that something as simple as a bedsheet can make a real difference to how you feel after a long day of travelling.

Our plates and bowls are made from ceramic produced in Bhaktapur, a place with a long tradition of craftsmanship and pottery.

The rugs throughout the apartments are made locally in Nepal using pure wool, bringing warmth and a little of the Himalayan landscape into the home.

Our sofas and furniture are made by local Nepali carpenters, rather than simply buying ready-made pieces. Each piece is chosen with the intention of creating a space that feels natural, comfortable and lived-in.

Even the shampoo and bathroom products are sourced from local Nepali makers, because we believe that the little things matter too.

A Home with a Story

We don’t want Zendalwood to feel like a room that could be anywhere in the world.

We want you to notice the little things.

The texture of the wool beneath your feet.
The ceramic bowl in your hands.
The softness of the cotton sheets at the end of a long day.
The wooden furniture made by someone here in Nepal.
The locally made products waiting for you in the bathroom.

These are small things, but together they give a place its soul.

By choosing local products and working with local makers, we hope to support Nepal’s traditional skills and craftsmanship, while giving our guests the opportunity to experience a little more of Nepal through the place they stay.

Life in Boudha

Zendalwood is located in Boudha, Kathmandu, close to the Boudhanath Stupa, local cafés, restaurants, shops and everyday conveniences.

It is a place where you can step outside and experience the rhythm of Kathmandu, then return to a quiet and comfortable space of your own.

For guests staying 3 nights or more, complimentary airport pick-up and drop-off are included.

Morning yoga classes are also available in the building, except Saturdays, at an additional charge.
