This antique wooden cup, carved from rare sandalwood burl and inlaid with silver on the inside, is once belonged to the 5th Panchen Lama, Lobsang Yeshe (1663–1737), one of the most revered masters in Tibetan history. Elegant yet humble in form, it may have been used for ritual offerings or sacred medicinal preparations during his retreats at Tashilhunpo Monastery.
The vessel was later entrusted to a prominent Tibetan noble family, where it was carefully safeguarded for centuries. More than an object, it was revered as a living relic imbued with the blessings of the Panchen Lama himself. During moments of prayer, hardship, or healing, it was brought forth and handled with the utmost reverence.
The swirling grain of the sandalwood burl and the subtle gleam of silver within speak of a harmony between craftsmanship and spiritual devotion. Today, this vessel stands as a rare witness to Himalayan artistry, sacred legacy, and quiet reverence across generations.
